This work explores the visual dialogue between colour, light and transparency through a simple arrangement of wrapped sweets. Layers of translucent cellophane create a complex interplay of reflections, refractions and overlapping hues, revealing how colour is constantly transformed by light. Executed entirely in coloured pencil, the work reflects my interest in translating intricate optical effects into a carefully controlled, hand-drawn language while demonstrating how ordinary objects.

Holding Light explores the quiet beauty of everyday objects through the language of coloured pencil. The luminous tangerines become a study of transparency, texture and atmosphere, where subtle shifts in colour and carefully preserved highlights transform an ordinary subject into a meditation on light itself. The work reflects my ongoing pursuit of technical precision while inviting the viewer to pause and appreciate the extraordinary qualities hidden within the familiar.

Siena is divided in 17 quarters that have odd names like Snale, Giraffe, Dragon, etc. They each have their own colourful flags and costumes. During 15 years that in periods I lived and worked near Siena I started paining a series of portraits of these men and boys. 17 are finished now. More to come!
